Summary:
This RN implements operations and nursing process for the Oncology/Hematology Department. This RN maintains patient records, QI initiatives and oversees equipment and operations in the Oncology/Hematology area.

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
- Holds a current Maine RN license.
- Current BL S
- Certification in Oncology is recommended.
- Formal education in Oncology required.
Experience Required:
- Recent training/experience in medication administration.
- Recent training/experience in the implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
- Clinical Care experience.
Special Requirements:
- EMHIE and CERNER Computer system (EMMC).
- Possesses basic computer skills and use of Hospital IS system.
Cognitive Requirements:
- Emotional maturity and good people skills required.
- Able to take in, process and apply clinical information in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Excellent communication skills and patient teaching skills.
- Ability to perform independently within acceptable standards.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for an eight or twelve hour shift.
- Has adequate hearing, vision, speech and manual dexterity to communicate with the patients and to complete any necessary daily tasks.
- General health must be such as to regularly work scheduled hours.
- Must be able to bend and lift 25-50 pounds..
Environment:
- Potential for exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Potential for exposure to infectious diseases and cytotoxic agents.
- Requires use of telephone and VDT.
- Some isolation from other staff.
