What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Maintenance Worker position at Mount Dora Christian Academy and Children's Home?
The Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for campus equipment and facilities, including basic plumbing, basic electrical, basic carpentry, basic HVAC, and other building systems. The maintenance worker will report to the maintenance supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work with co-workers using building blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician or license — examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors, lighting, and other building fixtures
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisor or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work independently
- Team player mentality
- Reliable transportation
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Related experience preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
- Valid Driver's license
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time repetitively.
- Must pass a background check.
This is a 12 month, full time position. Hours are 7:00-3:30, Monday - Friday.
Preference will be given to applicants who are members of a congregation of the churches of Christ. All applicants must be members of a local church and able to sign and abide by the MDCA Statement of Faith to be considered.
