Job Summary
Assists the nurse educator and nurse educator associate faculty in the lab setting. Sets up the lab for activities, breaks down the lab after sessions, and assists the faculty during activities as directed. Cares for and maintains the lab physical space performing light cleaning, laundry, and inspection of equipment. Inventories lab supplies and interacts with vendors in the care and maintenance of equipment.
Essential Duties
- Communicates with faculty, students, staff, and non-MHCC vendors on a regular basis about the needs of the lab environment.
- Prepares and breaks down the lab environment for learning activities.
- Operates a variety of simulation equipment in the lab setting and assists with student learning and remediation as directed.
- Maintains adequate inventory of lab supplies and communicates needs to Nurse Administrator or designee. Picks up supplies and makes deliveries.
- Provides light environmental cleaning of the lab as needed.
- Inspects laboratory equipment regularly and communicates needs to maintain optimal function.
- Follows program procedures for lab activities and clinical remediation.
- Participates in supporting student performance in nursing lab under the direction of the Nurse Educator or Nurse Educator Associate.
- Completes other general duties, reports, and paperwork assigned within the designated timeframe.
- Models professional behaviors for students.
- Changes and launders linen, on site, on a regular basis.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
- Must embrace an attitude of inclusivity of diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
- Basic skills with word processing, email, and spreadsheets, preferably in Microsoft Office
- Current driver's license, insurance, and the ability to be insured by the college's insurance carrier. Must have at least three years of driving history.
- Must have current Health Care Provider CPR card
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening hours
- Maintain current credentials and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, TdAP, varicella, annual influenza and BLS) as required by the program
- Must pass a drug screen upon hire
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant Level 1 or 2
- Healthcare experience of any kind
- Experience learning management systems
- Experience with communication and learning strategies to meet the needs of diverse student populations

- Ability to safely function in the lab setting under the direction of a Nurse Educator or Nurse Educator Associate
- Knowledge of basic infection prevention/control strategies

- Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently in handling multiple tasks, priorities and changing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to utilize a computer and any necessary software
Working Conditions and Important Information
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a skills lab and/or simulated healthcare environment. There will be some general office work while sitting at a computer terminal. Visual eye strain and repetitive hand/wrist motion for data entry and keyboarding functions. Communicates with a variety of students, faculty, staff, and outside vendors, verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift approximately 30 lbs. without assistance and stand/walk for extended periods.

Sick Leave
Part-time hourly employees will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked.
