Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including retirement homes, assisting them with daily activities, personal care, and fostering independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Support individuals with memory care and dementia care needs by implementing appropriate strategies to enhance their daily experiences.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients, ensuring all areas are safe and hygienic.
- Lift and assist clients as needed while adhering to proper safety protocols.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate team members.
- Collaborate with family members, healthcare providers, and other professionals to develop personalized care plans.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of memory care and dementia care techniques is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility as required.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in caregiving is an advantage.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
