What are the responsibilities and job description for the K-6 Learning Coordinator position at Mount Ida School District?
The K-6 Learning Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the academic success and professional growth of teachers in grades K-6. This position is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and resources to enhance teaching practices and improve student outcomes. The Learning Coordinator will collaborate with teachers, facilitate professional development opportunities, analyze student data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, conduct classroom walkthroughs, and provide mentorship and support to staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Teacher Support & Mentorship:
-Serve as a resource for K-6 teachers by offering guidance on instructional strategies, classroom management, and student engagement.
-Provide one-on-one mentorship to new and experienced teachers to help them grow in their practice and reach professional goals.
-Facilitate regular collaborative planning sessions with teachers to share best practices and refine instructional methods.
Data Analysis & Desegregation:
-Analyze student performance data (e.g., standardized test scores, formative assessments, and other metrics) to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
-Use data to guide instructional decisions and help teachers tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
-Collaborate with administrators and educators to set academic goals and track progress toward meeting those goals.
Classroom Walkthroughs & Observations:
-Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs to observe and provide feedback on instructional practices, student engagement, and classroom climate.
-Offer actionable feedback to teachers based on observations, and work collaboratively with them to implement improvements.
-Document observations and follow up on progress to ensure continuous improvement.
Professional Development:
-Plan, coordinate, and lead professional development workshops and training sessions tailored to K-6 educators' needs.
-Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices to provide relevant and impactful professional learning opportunities.
-Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the school community.
Collaboration & Communication:
-Work closely with school leadership to develop and implement curriculum initiatives, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
-Serve as a liaison between teachers, administration, and other educational staff to ensure alignment of educational goals.
-Promote a positive and collaborative school culture by engaging with teachers and staff in open, supportive dialogue.
Program Development & Implementation:
-Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide instructional initiatives and programs.
-Ensure programs and interventions are aligned with state standards and meet the needs of all students.
-Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree preferred).
-Valid teaching certification for K-6 education.
-At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
-Strong understanding of K-6 curriculum and instructional strategies.
-Experience with data analysis, desegregation, and using data to drive instructional decisions.
-Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and support teachers in their professional growth.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
-Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
-Knowledge of current trends in education, including technology integration and differentiated instruction.
