Construction Supervisor
The Mount Joy Borough Authority (an Equal Opportunity Employer) is seeking applications for the position of Construction Supervisor. Candidates should have a minimum 5 years of leadership experience in the water/sewer utility infrastructure industry. Thorough knowledge of the installation of new water/sewer mains along with knowledge of existing utility work including but not limited to repairs is required. Previous mechanical or technical skills relating to a field that can be essential to a water/wastewater facility is beneficial. Must have the ability to lift over 50 lbs., demonstrate physical ability to withstand walking for long periods of time, bending, reaching and standing. A valid PA motor vehicle license is required, and a PA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsement must be obtained within 9 months of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise Construction Department staff to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- Complete take off work for projects, including ordering and maintaining materials for stock.
- Plan, schedule and direct work for the construction department.
- Reading blueprints, laying out work, supplying as-builts for all completed work.
- Ensure highway occupancy permits (HOPs) are in place where applicable.
- Inspect water/sewer line work by outside contractors to ensure Authority specifications are met.
- Enforce department rules in a fair and even-handed manner.
- Report progress and scheduling updates of projects to the Operations Manager.
This position also requires the ability to work rotating weekend shifts and the ability to be on-site within ½ hour for emergency on-call work, and ability to work overtime as needed. Successful candidate must pass complete background investigation including reference, employment, criminal and driving, pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
