JOB SUMMARY:
Working directly with the Operations, Programs and Food Pantry team, the Manager of Volunteer Services cultivates and manages all volunteers to support programming and operational goals. The Manager will initiate recruitment strategies as needed, provide guidance through onboarding and care during tenure to cultivate engagement and ensure a rewarding volunteer experience. Volunteers include individuals, groups from sponsoring congregations, as well as family, organization and business partner groups. Scheduling includes weekly shifts pertaining to distribution, stocking, food recovery, larger off-site programs/events, and more. This is a hybrid position with scheduled in person Pantry hours that are outside of typical work day hours and virtual meetings, including some weekends.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Schedule all volunteer activity and operations
2. Ensure volunteers are available to support the various areas of operations
3. Recruit, interview and place applicants for volunteer work
4. Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training
5. Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers
6. Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
7. Maintain/enhance volunteer database
8. Evaluate all aspects of volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and to
recommend/implement changes as appropriate
9. Host and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified candidates
10. Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events
11. Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer
participation
12. Confer with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest
13. Communicate regularly with all stakeholders
14. Create a plan for volunteer retention
15. Create essential volunteer resources
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience with non-profit volunteer administration, management and using a volunteer management database preferred.
2. Strong organizational and time management skills to oversee multiple volunteer assignments.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Self-starter; able to work autonomously, extremely organized, tech savvy vis a vis working through our volunteer management system and in the Google suite.
5. Enthusiastic, efficient, flexible, collaborative.
6. Have a passion for food insecurity issues along with an understanding and respect for the Pantry’s mission and vision.
7. Ability to lift and stand when assisting in Pantry.
8. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
