Pennsauken is growing! We are undergoing a large renovation to become the largest veterinary hospital in Camden County! As we grow we are looking to grow our pharmacy team to support our amazing staff of doctors and technicians.
Overview of Job: The Pharmacy technician supports the hospital staff by filling medications for both outpatients and inpatients. This position also assists in pharmacy care and maintaining inventory. Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and supporting a positive client experience
- Maintain pharmacy with supplies needed for daily function of the hospital and place orders as needed.
- Communicate and work cooperatively with staff members to ensure adequate inventory is always on hand.
- Act as a liaison between the various departments regarding needed product.
- Manage pharmacy orders and inventory while anticipating upcoming needs accordingly
- Receive prescription refill requests (Med-line) and process in a timely fashion
- Maintain organization of pharmacy area and ensure all areas are free of clutter and debris.
- Dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care, according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements.
- Review prescriptions issued by veterinarians to ensure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
- Answer questions and provide information to clients on drug interactions, side effects, and dosage.
- Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance and security of controlled substances.
- Enter data to maintain pharmacy files, charge system and inventory
- Work well with all team members and ensure that actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
- Assist Pharmacy/Inventory Lead and Hospital Directors in quarterly and year-end inventory counts.
- Meet with Pharmacy/Inventory Lead regularly to keep updated Maintaining and supporting a positive workplace experience for all.
- Ensure no gossip, bullying or discrimination to other employees and/or clients.
- Teamwork/Teambuilding exercises that help the team work cohesively together.
- Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to follow through on all responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Foster communication and collaboration between departments.
Minimum requirements
EDUCATION: High School Diploma
- Ideal: degree in Veterinary Technician program and/or National Certification Experience:
- 2 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred, veterinary medicine preferred.
