Overview
Mount Marty University is pleased to accept applicants for an Accountant. The Accountant oversees the University's comprehensive accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and annual audits. The role ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory policies, facilitates efficient financial operations, and supports strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- System Administration
- Administer Anthology Finance by configuring financial codes, managing the chart of accounts, and maintaining user security.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare the University’s financial statements quarterly for review by the Board of Trustees in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare materials for annual Financial Statement and A-133 audits.
- Gather information for annual reporting and tax filings, including 990, IPEDs, and other federally required reports.
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly operational summaries for administrative management, including projections on operating activities and cash flow.
- Provide relevant data and participate in financial decisions and planning.
- Financial Reconciliation
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll to ensure accurate and timely monthly close and reconciliation processes.
- Analyze and record all transactions not processed through a subsidiary ledger and reconcile all general ledger accounts.
- Maintain Fixed Asset & Depreciation schedules and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Coordinate with the Financial Aid office on all Business Office transactions, including drawing federal funds and reconciling aid disbursements.
- Other Duties
- Develop policies and streamline procedures within the Business Office and its partners.
- File sales and quarterly payroll reports timely.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; Anthology Finance preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service, multitasking, and confidentiality management skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (Master's or CPA preferred).
- Minimum of two years' professional accounting experience.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Mount Marty University.
