Position Summary :
Mount Mary University is seeking an individual to contribute to the realization of our mission through the role of a caring and compassionate part-time tutor for statistics.
Primary Responsibilities :
Provide specific graduate level tutoring for CON630 : Statistics, Research, Program Evaluation
Attend portions of class sessions and work with students during open resource periods
Aid students with problem solving strategies
Provide support with use of principles and formulas required to be successful in class
Identify and record common problem areas for the purpose of developing support services and reference materials
Guide students to develop a deeper understanding of the statistical research process
Collaborate with faculty to incorporate course-specific learning outcomes during tutoring sessions
Maintain confidential student tutoring logs and other records as necessary
Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services
Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
Skills and Experience :
Bachelor of Arts required, Master's degree strongly preferred
Strong understanding of quantitative research methods
Strong understanding of the clinical mental health counseling field
Proven technological competence (using programs such as SPSS or Excel)
Ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff
Ability to work with students one-on-one, and in small groups or classroom format
Experience working with a wide variety of learning styles
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to helping students become successful independent learners
Ability to maintain confidentiality
