What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor of Social Work - MSW position at Mount Mary University?
Position Summary:
Mount Mary is looking for an Assistant Professor to teach primarily in the online MSW program. This tenure-track position requires significant contact with students, faculty, and administrative offices to ensure that each Mount Mary University social work student receives quality social work education. Position provides 100% teaching in social work courses consistent with practice experience. On-campus presence is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach courses related to social work, with a focus on clinical and children/families.
- Curriculum development and revision
- Serve as a resource for faculty members and other program areas
- Serve on faculty assembly and All-University committees
- Provide service to the institution and the community
- Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity (research, publications, presentations)
- Advise students
- Support social work student organizations
- Maintain compliance with CSWE accreditation standards
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program (PhD/DSW preferred)
- Previous undergraduate or masters social work teaching experience; will also consider other relevant experience
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional code of ethics and best practices
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to work with diverse groups
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of professional and community groups
