POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of clerical duties in the Radiology Department. Utilizes communication skills and other behaviors to create an environment of customer service and hospitality under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Imaging Services.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
- One year clerical experience is preferred.
- Previous computer experience within a medical office is preferred.
- Previous experience with HIS/RIS and PACS applications is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to maintain composure in dealing with a variety of personalities in a sometimes high pressure environment.
- Ability to communicate with patients/patient’s families in a courteous and respectful manner, providing great customer service.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel in the department, hospital and in physician’s offices. Ability to adapt to changes in routine/schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs a variety of clerical duties.
- Greets and receives patients for imaging examinations.
- Provides appropriate procedure preparation and exam itinerary.
- Notifies providers, offices and nursing units of available reports requiring review and transfers reports via appropriate method. Completes documentation in PACS and relays appropriate information to outpatients.
- Answers phones.
- Works in multiple imaging applications to perform daily duties.
- Receives outside imaging exams and imports them into PACS.
- Completes requests for exams on CDs or electronic transfer.
- Scans documents into PACS as required.
- Prepares CDs for Operating Room and Surgical Center based on schedule.
- Retrieves images/reports for physicians as requested.
- Implements downtime procedures as instructed.
- Stocks supplies and preps for patient exams.
- Retrieves and sorts mail.
- Always checks for two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth.
- Escorts patients throughout department and/or hospital.
- Provides great customer service to patients, staff and/or anyone else they come in contact with.
