Responsibilities:
- Manages the college application process for approximately 85 senior students, including leading parent-student conferences, providing guidance for all aspects of the college search and selection process, and writing unique, advocacy-centered recommendation letters
- Plans and presents college counseling programming to parents and students (including but not limited to College Application Kickoff, regular Parent Universities, and the College Fair)
- Creates and submits materials to colleges supporting college applicants, including transcripts, references/recommendations, and scholarship awards.
- Schedules and hosts college visits to MPCS
- Reviews college essays for seniors when requested
- Provides academic guidance to all Juniors when creating their schedules for Senior year
- Represent MPCS at SACAC, NACAC, and ACCIS, and CESA
- Advises the upper school administrative team on higher education trends
- Attend MPCS upper school administrative meetings and other administrative duties as a signed
- Willingness to engage in a ministerial, mentoring role with assigned students
- Fundamental understanding of and commitment to the MPCS culture, mission, and vision; a willingness to serve as an ambassador for MPCS, both internally and externally
- Team player with a positive attitude, proactive approach, and a customer service mindset
- Polished oral, written, telephone, and email communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and a wide variety of constituents
- Flexible and resilient problem solver with a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
- Highly detail-oriented
- Ability to anticipate tasks based on the academic calendar
- Proficiency and essential web-based platforms, such as SCOIR and Google Suite
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience preferably in an educational environment.
- A mission-driven individual who demonstrates an eagerness to serve in a faith-based academic environment & genuine ability to connect with and serve young people in a Christian community.
- Communications: Effective written, verbal, and editing communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Collaboration: Has student-centered focus and ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
