Position : Major Gifts Officer

Reports To : Director of Development

FLSA Classification : Exempt

Position Summary :

Undertake departmental fundraising activities in support of Mount Pisgah Christian School and the comprehensive campaign, Pisgah Forward. Working with the Director of Development, Head of School and Senior Leadership, the Philanthropy and Program Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors at the level of $10,000 and above level.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Manages an active portfolio of 125-150 donor prospects, foundations, and corporations with the potential of making a major gift of $10,000 or more
  • Strong fundraising background with experience managing and overseeing donor portfolios
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive, meaningful relationships with each member of assigned portfolio
  • Collaborate with school leadership to align donor interests with institutional priorities
  • Develop and execute customized strategies for each qualified donor based on best practices and research - cultivation to closure
  • Implement donor engagement activities, cultivation, and solicitation of all types of charitable support including but not limited to : annual, capital, endowment, and planned gifts
  • Create and manage appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship strategies
  • Utilize systems to promptly enter actions, track and report progress using specific metrics and moves management
  • Assist in implementing the campaign plan including special fundraising strategies, initiatives, and appeals to meet campaign goals
  • Assist with planning specific fundraising and cultivation events as part of the phases of the Campaign
  • Coordinate with the development team and finance office to ensure proper gift processing, recording, reporting and analysis
  • Participate in all development team activities, knowledge sharing and collaboration on donor approaches
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development for ongoing monitoring and reporting of targets and goals
  • Explore best practices and opportunities to enhance the major giving strategies
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development

MPCS Other :

  • Personally affirm the Statement of Faith and all corresponding documents
  • Support the mission of the school in all actions
  • Attend school events as assigned - weekend and evening
  • Any task that is needed or assigned to advance the work of MPCS
  • Qualifications :

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of five years in fundraising at a college, university, K-12 school or non-profit
  • Proven ability to manage detailed reports, lists, confidential information and time-sensitive materials
  • Proven ability to manage volunteers, organize events and adhere to deadlines
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems. Blackbaud preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to be proactive, take initiative and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment and display a positive behavior
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to actively listen to internal and external needs from donors
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Genuine ability to connect and build relationships with others

  • Occasionally work nights and weekends in support of departmental school activities.
