Position Summary:The paraeducator will support the behavioral management needs of students experiencing dysregulation or other challenges.. The individual will supervise and maintain a calming space designed to help students de-escalate and regulate their emotions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The Paraeducator will work closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators to implement strategies that promote student well-being and successful reintegration into the classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students in moments of dysregulation, utilizing approved de-escalation techniques and strategies.
- Supervise and maintain a calming space, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and organized environment for students to regulate and reset
- Guide students through appropriate self-regulation activities, such as mindfulness exercises, appropriate use of sensory tools, or relaxation techniques.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for certain students
- Monitor and document student behavior and progress, providing regular updates to the appropriate team members.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety and emotional security.
- Participate in professional development and training to stay current on best practices for supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all school and district policies regarding student privacy and safety.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Earned high school diploma or education equivalent
Education and Licensure:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Para Educator Certificate or equivalent preferred
