Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional READING INTERVENTIONIST who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek challenging yet rewarding teaching experiences.
We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.

This posting is a school-based position. The district Teaching and Learning department will conduct the initial applicant screening to determine eligibility, after which school-based hiring teams will review eligible applications and invite selected candidates to interview. Successful candidates must demonstrate a positive impact on student outcomes, including proficiency and growth. This is a promotional role requiring an interview and an additional day of work.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 or more years teaching in a classroom preferred
- Proficiency in early literacy skills preferred
RIDE Certification Requirements:
- Secondary ELA teacher, 7-12, or
- Bilingual and Dual Language Education Teacher, Grades 7-12, or
- K-12 Reading Specialist
ESL Certification Preferred
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES:
- Provide targeted tier 2 and 3 interventions to students 1:1 and in small groups in the area of reading as well as social and emotional skills.
- Model lessons, co-teach, and support small group instruction for classroom teachers.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of best practices in specific content area of reading and early literacy
- Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Promote a school atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students.
- Monitor and evaluate student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices in District MTSS System.
- Engage in weekly progress monitoring of student outcomes in the District MTSS System.
- Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, MTSS/RtI meetings, and self-reflection/evaluation.
- Supervise students in a range of settings; protects and promotes the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Collaborates with literacy-focused teachers in data analysis and lesson planning.
- Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents and the community.
- Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development.
- Support the Principal, building leadership team, and district leadership team.
- Other duties as assigned by building or district administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
- Understanding of and willingness to work within the framework of an Aligned Instruction System as described in Providence School Board policy NSBA/NEPN: IF (available under "Policies and Regs" at http://www1.providenceschools.org/pesb/
- You must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employment
- Bilingual Preferred
- Selected candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check.
- Excellent technology skills including familiarity with communication, presentation, and data management tools and applications in desktop, web-based, and mobile environments willingness and ability to model information, communication, technology, and media literacy for students, colleagues, parents, and community willingness and ability to continuously develop and evolve new skills and support colleagues in the development of their skills
- Must complete the Right to Read Proficiency Level by school year 2025-2026, or within one year of hire if not previously required.
