Job Title: Academic Cohort Leader
Reports To: Principal and Dean of Students
Salary up to $50,000 - New Pay Rates!
Position located in Pike, New Hampshire
The Academic Cohort Leader works closely with the Dean of Students to provide local leadership to the Academic Cohort where the ACL is assigned. The Academic Cohort Leader is a critical component to establishing a safe, organized, and inspiring learning environment for the faculty and students of the Academic Cohort.

MPA has evolved to offer a variety of mental health support services to a diverse population of “hard to treat” and “difficult to place” adolescents. Our targeted services include home and community-based treatment, residential treatment programs, group homes, and special education schools. MPA is known for its ability to achieve successful outcomes with difficult-to-serve individuals throughout New England.

We aim to develop trusting relationships with students and facilitate experiences that promote their ability to self-regulate; manage thoughts and feelings; and develop feelings of safety, confidence, and competency.
Summary Statement:

The Academic Cohort Leader works closely with the Dean of Students to provide local leadership to the Academic Cohort where the ACL is assigned. The Academic Cohort Leader is a critical component to establishing a safe, organized, and inspiring learning environment for the faculty and students of the Academic Cohort.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise and develop academic cohort paraprofessionals and 1:1 faculty in performance of their duties, including facilitating formal biweekly supervision.
  • Provides leadership to students and faculty to maintain clean and orderly classrooms and educational spaces
  • Works with students and faculty to review classroom expectations, routines, and positive reinforcers to ensure their effective engagement in learning
  • Supports teachers and faculty to organize the physical layout of the classroom to facilitate movement and focus on learning.
  • Support and train faculty to scan the room making note of when students are not engaged and proactively provide students support to re-engage in learning.
  • Model, support and train faculty to implement strategies associated with “withitness” to promote student engagement and learning.
  • The teacher applies consequences for not following rules and procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Model and train faculty to use verbal and nonverbal behavior that indicates caring for students and celebrates student success.
  • Model and train faculty to respond to students in an objective and controlled manner
  • Model and train faculty to exhibit approaches that demonstrate value and respect for all students.
  • Assures that all documentation is completed by faculty using Professional and/or Medicaid approved language to include Prosocial, FYI's, Academic Progress data, and Incident Reports prior to faculty leaving each day.

Qualifications:

  • 21 years and older
  • Associate Degree or Higher preferred, High School Diploma (or GED) required
  • Prefer two years' experience interacting with children/youth. This may include, but is not restricted to camp counselor, coach, babysitting.
Communication Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as directions, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Timely response to email and phone messages
  • Communicate to all levels of employees with courtesy and respect
