The Peer Transitions House will offer a supportive short-term residential setting to individuals who are experiencing challenging life events and need the safety and support of a peer driven environment. The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) at Peer Transitions House provides general supervision and peer support interventions to individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The PRS serves as an advocate and assists in maximizing individuals' choices and decision making in the recovery process. The PRS will be an essential member of the Peer Transitions House team, assisting in oversight of the Peer Transitions House and its residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Collaborate with individuals to identify needs for recovery supports and develop recovery plans, assisting individuals in implementing those plans.
- Assist in the oversight of daily operations and supervision of the house and residents.
- Provide concrete assistance to help other accomplish tasks such as obtaining transportation, employment, health care, and other life skills.
- Conduct group interventions to engage individuals both during and after their stay at the Peer Transitions House.
- Provide ongoing observation of the individual's progress and response to treatment and communicate with the treatment team.
- Complete documentation according to agency, state, and DMAS guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Requirements
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIRED :
Lived experience with mental health and / or substance use disorders and twelve (12) months of sustained recovery.
Applicant must have passed Peer Certification Exam or be eligible to sit for the exam within six (6) months of hire.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
