Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our athletic department as the Head Coach in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) league. The successful candidate will lead, develop, and manage all aspects of the program, with a strong emphasis on fostering a positive and competitive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner in Mission:
Supports the school's philosophy, offers assistance in building a Christian community, and coaches our student-athletes to play the game with passion but also with fairness. The exemplary coach will be one who can win without losing sight of the fact that he/she is a teacher and the players are students; the coach will teach players to adhere to the rules of the game, recognize the dignity of the opponent, and understand the true meaning of sportsmanship.
Leadership and Program Management:
Provides visionary leadership for the program, setting goals and strategies for success.
Oversees all aspects of the team, including practice planning, game preparation, and in-season/off-season training programs.
Develops and implements a comprehensive and progressive player development plan.
Player Development:
Fosters a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
Utilizes effective coaching techniques to enhance individual skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and the principles of honorable competition.
Monitors and supports academic progress and personal development of student-athletes.
Recruitment and Retention:
Actively participates in the recruitment of mission-appropriate student-athletes to the program.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with local feeder programs and clubs.
Implements effective strategies for player retention and program continuity.
Assists with the placement of student-athletes at the college and university level
Game Strategy and Analysis:
Develops and executes effective game strategies that maximize the team's performance.
Analyzes opponents and adjusts tactics accordingly.
Provides constructive feedback to players to enhance performance.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensures compliance with NEPSAC rules and regulations.
Collaborates with the athletic department on administrative tasks, including scheduling, budget management, and reporting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Detail oriented while maintaining an excellent follow through and a positive attitude
Extensive knowledge of the rules and strategies of the specified sport.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
Ability to work collaboratively with the athletic department and other school stakeholders.
Ability to mentor and supervise other coaches and instruct and train sub-varsity coaches on the developmental skills of the sport and the system to be used at all levels.
