Full-Time Fletcher Jones Chair / Assistant Professor, Nursing Department, Tenure Track position
Reporting to the Dean of Nursing, the Fletcher Jones Chair is a full-time, tenure-track position that will work strategically across all MSMU nursing programs to prepare future nursing leaders in the community health arena. This person will develop partnerships with area community and community health organizations in linguistically and culturally diverse Los Angeles communities.
The Fletcher Jones Chair will also seek to collaborate with faculty and / or other MSMU departments to develop and integrate community health curricula and oversee associated nursing student service-learning opportunities within the community. They will promote research and educational programs and support faculty and / or student community-related scholarly activities.
Position Annual Hiring Salary : $80,000 - $84,000
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Essential Duties
The Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair will develop and supervise multiple ongoing opportunities for students to engage in community service learning in traditional and non-traditional healthcare arenas.
To accomplish student-centric, community-related, and service-learning opportunities in highly diverse populations, the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair will
- Work across MSMU nursing programs.
- Establish interdisciplinary community health-related service-learning opportunities.
- Form and / or maintain community health-related, diverse organization relationships.
- Collaborate with the clinical placement team to establish and maintain agency affiliations.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and integrate service learning throughout the curriculum.
- Provide continuing education for the external nursing community.
- Seek grant opportunities that support service learning.
- Publicize service-learning programs and outcomes within professional organizations and communities through presentations or publication.
- Conduct or participate in research and scholarly writing.
- Collaborate with faculty to help support research and scholarly writing efforts.
- Maintain faculty responsibilities outlined in the MSMU faculty handbook.
- Teach 1-5 units per AY.
The most complex aspects of this job will be maintaining existing partnerships and building new relationships for community health service learning.
May require weekend or evening work.
