Job Title: Kitchen & Housekeeping Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Overview: The Kitchen & Housekeeping Manager oversees the daily operations of all food
service and for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in all facilities.
The Kitchen & Housekeeping Manager ensures that the kitchen runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets
health and safety standards. The Kitchen & Housekeeping Manager will also be responsible for
keeping all buildings, including the cabin area, clean and in an orderly fashion. The role involves
running the kitchen, managing staff, ensuring food quality and customer satisfaction, inventory
control on kitchen items and housekeeping supplies, as well as cleaning and sanitizing all spaces at
Mount Shepherd.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Self-motivated, dependable, and organized with a strategic, intentional mindset towards finding
solutions
- Ability to multi-task and work within a high-expectation environment with aggressive timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that help customers understand our policies,
procedures, expectations and requirements.
- Strong leadership and delegation skills that can be clearly executed while supporting a
committed and enthusiastic staff in related areas.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
- Certified in Servsafe Food Manager or ability to attain.
- Certified in CPR & First Aid or ability to attain.
- Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of
time
- Ability to pass a background check.
Kitchen Manager Job Duties:
- Review, modify, and enforce kitchen procedures and policies found in the Mount Shepherd
Kitchen Manual
- Prepare, cook, and serve food for all guests during scheduled meal times.
- Maintain sanitation of the kitchen and everything therein to comply with local, state and federal
regulations.
- Attend and participate in a weekly meeting with the Mount Shepherd staff
- Participate in training opportunities to the extent possible
- Provide for the safe procurement of food
- Actively manage inventory of food, cookware, dishware, and all other supplies pertaining to the
kitchen- Manage staff and volunteers who are assigned to the kitchen. This may include training,
coaching, scheduling.
- Work with camp directors to maintain an appropriate menu, attentive to the dietary restrictions
of staff and campers.
- Ensure that all food contact surfaces are sanitized regularly.
- Ensure that food is stored safely and efficiently
- Ensure that dishes are washed and sanitized and stored in compliance with all relevant codes.
Housekeeping Manager Job Duties:
- Clean and sanitize all used spaces; This includes but is not limited to sanitizing beds, dusting
vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and restocking. This includes Hedgecock Lodge, Bethlehem
Cottage, Upper & Lower Cabins, Bath House, Office and any other used spaces at camp.
- Ensure all outlets, appliances, toilets, sinks, and light fixtures are in working order. Report any
broken fixtures or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor or maintenance department.
- Ensure all public areas are tidy, well-organized, and free from debris.
- Empty waste baskets in rooms, bathrooms, and public areas.
- Respond promptly to guests concerns of cleanliness or extra amenities.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Keep a detailed inventory of all cleaning supplies and place orders in a timely manner.
Salary: $31,000 per year
