Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty : Operating Room
Job Duration : 13 Weeks
Shift : Day - 7.5x5 from 7 : 00 AM
Guaranteed Hours : 37.5 hours per week
Experience : Minimum of 2 years RN experience with specialties in orthopedics, vascular, robotics, and urology cases. Preferably 2 years of operating room experience circulating for orthopedics, vascular, robotics, and urology.
License : New York State RN License
Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Must-Have : EPIC experience highly preferred
Job Description :
- Provide safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research for a designated group of patients and their significant others.
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in delivering nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, and delegate accordingly.
- Educate patients and caregivers while anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care, care transition, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family members, and all healthcare team members.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrate effective allocation of material resources.
- Role-model the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care and facilitate various patient care actions.
- Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery when necessary and escalate concerns to appropriate management.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions.
- Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in patient care.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on evidence-based practices.
- Engage in peer and institutional review processes and collaborate on quality improvement projects.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with managers to ensure efficient utilization of supplies and staffing.
- Escalate material or staffing resource deficits to appropriate personnel.
- Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship and lifelong learning.
- Advance clinical competence and encourage shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
