Description

Responsible for program leadership and in assuring compliance with mandated clinical interventions within the Medical Center. The Clinical Program Director interfaces with Mount Sinai Health System departments, administrators, Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership and clinical staff, overseeing administrative and daily operations of the program(s) under purview, project leadership and compliance activity.

The Director ensures that the department is run according to institutional policies and any applicable regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

1. In conjunction with Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, this individual provides coordination and leadership in execution of program activities, core measures and clinical intervention compliance activity.

2. Develops action plans to support compliance with measures indicators. Provides support and educational resources to departments and services relative to core measures quality assessment and improvement processes.

3. Establishes and implements short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures for core measures programs.

4. Oversees the compilation and analysis of clinical program activity data. May serve as point of contact for program data collection inquiries.

5. Selects, hires and trains/orients staff, inclusive of RN Clinical Coordinators, other clinicians and administrative personnel. Develops, monitors and assesses professional and clinical competencies for RN Coordinators in alignment with program goals.

6. Provides technical assistance, resource services, consultation and education.

7. Participates in and conducts process improvement analysis where applicable. Identifies models of best practice in each area under purview.

8. Responsible for extension of the program for new services or areas.

9. Promotes an interdisciplinary approach in patient care delivery.

10. Serves as a resource for patients and their families.

11. Maintains clinical competence, is responsible and accountable for their own nursing practice and advocates the highest standards of nursing practice.

12. Serves as a clinical role model and resource to the nursing staff.

13. Serves as a professional resource to other members of the health care team.

14. Prepares reports and analysis associated with the institutions core measures programs i.e. senior management reports, departmental and clinical service program evaluation, quarterly reports, etc.

15. Facilitates cooperation within the program between all departments, services and units.

16. Provides timely status reports of results of quality monitoring relative to areas that are assigned including identification of patterns and trends that require actions.

17. Collaborates with other members of the health care team in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of policies, procedures, and standards of care for designated patient populations.

18. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, departmental and care center standards, policies, procedures and guidelines as well as regulatory agency standards. Assures readiness for Joint Commission and other agency surveys and presents related programs during Joint Commission and other agency visits.

19. Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement programs.

20. Participates in quality management activities including identifying and communicating issues of performance improvement and risk in a timely manner.

21. Participates in committee activities.

22. Is aware of and responsive to budgetary constraints and incorporates financial principles into program development and allocation of resources.

23. Assists in the performance appraisal process of designated Nursing staff.

24. Research opportunities for use in benchmarking for assigned areas.


Qualifications

Education Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required. Masters in Nursing or health related field is preferred. Certification in specialty area preferred.

Experience Requirements

Seven years minimum progressive clinical/ leadership experience.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

Current New York State nursing licensure as Registered Professional Nurse; Nurse Practitioner is preferred with associated licensure

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139748 - $209622 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
