Description
The Physician Assistant in Ob/Gyn functions as a mid-level health care provider in Obstetrics and Gynecological Services. These services include the following clinics: Prenatal, Gyn Surgery, Infertility, Colposcopy, Adolescent and Women’s Health Services and urogynecology and Gyn-oncology clinic, in addition to inpatient gynecology service activity.
Responsibilities
- To evaluate, diagnose and provide prenatal care to uncomplicated pregnant patients.
- To treat routine medical problems common to pregnancy.
- To diagnose and treat gynecologic problems (abnormal uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, vaginal infections, sexually transmitted diseases, menopause, etc.).
- Make appropriate referrals for complicated gyn patients requiring surgery.
- To function as a primary care provider for the Women’s Health Service Clinic, by providing a full range of diagnostic services and treatment to common primary health care problems encountered by pregnant women and non-pregnant women.
- May assist with training and orientation of residents/ students from various departments. To assist on the inpatient management of Ob and Gyn patients.
- Surgically assist in minimally invasive and open gynecologic surgical procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Service.
Qualifications
-Graduate of an AMA approved P.A. Program and to possess certification in primary care and or surgical care by the NCCPA.
-Basic Computer skills required.
-Provide a full range of medical skills to diagnose and treat patients to provide competent medical care.
-Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
