Description

The Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience who supports Nurse Managers, Associate Nursing Directors and senior nursing leadership in the management of clinical units/specialty areas, fulfilling responsibilities for hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts


Responsibilities

Overnight Monday through Friday, 11:30 pm – 8 am (8.5-hour shifts), Every other weekend 12.5 hours

  • Assists clinical nurses to solve patient care problems and to develop patient management and leadership skills.
  • Oversees patient care delivery, throughput, staffing, and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations during assigned shifts.
  • Supports, implements, and interprets the philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards for nursing care of patients and families.
  • Investigate patient complaints and apply appropriate interventions as necessary. Refers to follow-up solutions to the clinical nurse manager or another appropriate person.
  • Assists nursing personnel to establish and implement safety standards and to monitor the environment for hazards. Assists nursing staff with needle-stick injury follow-up as per Blood and Body Fluids Exposure policy (Infection Control policy).
  • Evaluate nursing staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Responds to various hospital emergencies and escalate to appropriate leadership, including acting as incident commander during evening/night shifts and weekends/ holidays.

 


Qualifications

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing and master?s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred

Experience Requirements

3-5 years minimum clinical nursing experience with some Charge Nurse/supervisory experience preferred. Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice assigned

Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)

Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in the state of New York.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Issuing Agency: AHA, Within 12 months of hire

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $104995 - $157492 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
