Description

Performs a variety of secretarial duties, under general supervision, in any assigned department or nursing unit. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.


Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks.

2. Answers telephone, screen calls, takes messages and provides information according to established policies.

3. Types correspondence, memos, reports, minutes, etc. Proofs typed materials, makes corrections and recommends changes. Copies as necessary.

4. Handles incoming and outgoing mail, opens, sorts, and prioritizes; answers routine inquiries and correspondence.

5. Maintains appointment books for meetings, patients, travel, etc. Arranges meetings.

6. Maintains files; assists in setting up office systems.

7. Orders office and clinical supplies as requested; assists in care and maintenance of department equipment.

8. Maintains established hospital/departmental/unit policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.

9. Attends meetings as required, including in-service meetings.

10. Applies shorthand and/or speedwriting techniques to compile information dictated; transcribes recorded dictation.

11. Prepares charts and time tables; assists with the preparation of materials, agendas, notes handouts, etc


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education. Some prior training in secretarial sciences a plus.
  • Prior experience as a Clerk Typist or any clerical responsibilities within a hospital environment

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $31.2787 - $31.2787 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
