Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital    


The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. We believe that total patient care must emphasize the physical, emotional, and social needs of each patient and their care partners. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.

 

  • Provide social work services to adolescents and their families in AHC's school-based health center located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Educational Campus at 122 Amsterdam Avenue. 

 

Note: This position (with PTO) is full-time (12 months a year) with other AHC-related duties to be undertaken during any periods of the year when school is not in session. PTO is 31 days per year. 

 


Responsibilities
  • The social worker will provide evaluation, short-term and ongoing individual psychotherapy and supportive counseling services, as well as health education, crisis intervention, case management and family and group psychotherapy as part of an inter-disciplinary health care team in a high school setting. 

Qualifications
  • NYS LMSW or LCSW. 
  • Experience in primary care setting required, school based setting preferred.
  • Experience with crisis intervention/emergency room mental health referrals and coordination with emergency services.
  • Experience in delivery of sexual and reproductive health counseling/options and HIV counseling. 
  • Experience delivering short and long term therapeutic individual (and group) interventions, including preventative and risk-reduction models.
  • Experience working with populations who have complex trauma histories.
  • Knowledge of mental health and social service resources in greater NYC area with a working knowledge of state regulations related to child abuse, child neglect, and other urgent care issues.
  • Excellent collaborative, clinical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • LCSW preferred. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Internal candidates: at least 12 months in current role.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $85279.91 - $97760.36 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
