Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Job Specialty : Oncology

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 9-5, 5 days per week, 8 hours per shift

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years RN experience; 2 years of medicine and chemotherapy experience; 1 year travel experience for travel positions (not required for per diem positions)

License : State RN License

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have : EPIC experience highly preferred

Job Description :

• The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent, and quality care to a designated group of patients and their significant others.
• Utilize the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care, applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
• Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prioritize patient care tasks, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning, and delegating as appropriate.
• Educate patients and caregivers about patient care plans, health promotion, disease prevention, and transition of care.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary patient care teams.
• Manage patient assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing.
• Role model the tenets of Relationship Centered Care in various patient interactions.
• Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in care delivery.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Use evidence-based practices to improve understanding of patient perceptions of care.
• Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement process improvement strategies and engage in peer and institutional review processes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects.
• Escalate material or staffing resource deficits to appropriate management.
• Facilitate patient throughput and perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
• Project professionalism and communicate with care, respect, and empathy.
• Encourage a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation.
• Participate in shared decision-making within specialty practice councils and nursing committees.

Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing considered with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN Program.
