Job Description

A full-time Psychologist position is available at the Center for Intensive Treatment of Personality Disorders (CITPD) at the Department of Psychiatry of Mount Sinai Morningside / Harlem Health Center.

The position entails academic appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychological assessment of patients with complex personality psychopathology
  • Provide specialized, intensive, multidimensional / multivariable treatment based on intensive psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mentalization-based therapy for patients with severe and complex personality disorders and personality-related problems, including :

intensive individual psychotherapy

  • intensive group psychotherapy
  • crisis interventions and management
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to psychology fellows, interns and externs
  • Provide supervision and mentoring in intensive psychotherapy to psychiatry residents
  • Provide supervision of psychological testing to psychology trainees
  • Function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Participate in department-wide activities, including research, CQI, as needed
  • Facilitate 5-6 session of intensive group psychotherapy / skills group per week
  • Manage a caseload of 15 individual patients, as assigned, including crisis interventions
  • Provide coverage for other members of the team, as assigned
  • Provide and maintain complete and accurate medical record (Epic) of treatment, as needed
  • Supervise 1-2 psychology trainees (fellow, intern, extern), including psychological testing, as assigned
  • Attend 1-2 multidisciplinary clinical team meetings per week
  • Qualifications

  • New York State license in Psychology
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment and treatment of personality disorders including :
  • Intensive psychodynamic therapy

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Mentalization-Based Therapy
  • Supervision of psychological testing
