The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $30.0031 - $32.4855 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

The First Cook prepares high quality foods for patients and non-patient services
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
- Prepares high quality foods for patient and non-patient services.
- Ensures that all equipment used for handling and preparation of food is functioning properly. Reports malfunctions to Supervisor/ chef manager
- Maintains and verifies full compliance with OHSM/HACCP standards.
- Coordinates the development of new menu items with the Chef Manager.
- Utilizes advanced culinary skills to prepare specialty items according to established recipes.
- Oversees and performs (when necessary) equipment sanitizing according to departmental and HACCP regulations.
- Assists in the testing of all new recipes.
- Relieves Second Cooks in patient and non-patient feeding.
Requirements:
- High School education or equivalent. Formal training in food preparation preferred.
- Three years of large quantity cooking experience. Two years related experience
