The Clinical Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse with twenty-four hour responsibility and accountability for the management of a designated patient care area, who develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice, patient care and unit management, and consistently demonstrates a professional commitment to patients, their significant others, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership Develop, implements and evaluates standards of care and professional practice in collaboration with members of the health care team in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory agency requirements. Provides and manages staff educational ability to provide safe, high quality and competent care.
  • Coordinates care delivery and the assignment of staff based on the identification of immediate post-operative needs and competency.
  • Manages expenses to stay within the budget guidelines outlined for the unit. Manages human resources, including recruitment, hiring evaluation and retention of staff. Develops and implements ongoing performance improvement activities.
  • Identifies, responds to and investigates potential and risk management issues. Ensures the availability of educational and other resources needed to provide safe, competent and effective patient care. Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, and objectives, of the institution.
  • Maintains clinical and administrative skills acting as a role model with clinical knowledge. Continue to monitor technical skills of staff
  • Encourage autonomous nursing practice based on nursing theory and research
  • Develops and oversees unit based quality initiatives and implements PI activity that promotes both clinical and financial excellence

Qualifications

  • BSN, Masters Degree in Nursing or health related field.
  • Maintain current BCLS
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing leadership experience demonstrating solid management abilities
  • Current NYS license as a registered professional nurse
  • Maintain current BCLS by AHA
  • Certification: NRP (Labor and Delivery, NICU dept)
  • Certification: ACLS (in ED; PACU/ASU; ICUs; Telemetry Units; SDU; IR, Interventional Cardiology (CCL/EP/Echo); L&D; Endoscopy, and APN Adult Oncology
  • Certification: PALS (in ED; PACU; IR; Peds ICU, and APNs Pediatric Oncology depts.)

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $160817.09 - $191697.52 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
