Certifications :
Nuclear Medicine Tech (NMT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology (N)
Active CT certification (ARRT - Computed Tomography (CT))
Must-Have :
Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology Program
Ability to start peripheral IV access lines
Ability to perform injection procedures including manual unit doses and dose delivery systems
Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment
Active Nuclear Medicine and CT licenses
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Job Description :
Comply with the laws, regulations, and policies governing the practice of nuclear medicine.
Follow hospital, Division of Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Safety policies for safe use of radioactive material.
Adhere to safety regulations, including radiation safety protocols.
Conduct ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with Division Standards of Practice and Protocols.
Review procedure requests, protocol sheets, patient's medical information, and screening information for the Radiology Department's Final Checks process.
Ensure pre-procedural preparation has been completed (e.g., fasting, diet, hydration, glucose levels, voiding, and suspension of interfering medications).
Maintain and post current Permits to Practice.
Explain procedures to patients and / or their families and obtain assistance from interpreters or translators as needed.
Administer contrast agents and / or radiopharmaceuticals under guidance and approval of a Radiologist.
Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoot problems; manage service calls as needed.
Document radiopharmaceutical doses and provide patients with Dose Exposure Cards.
Transfer and archive studies to PACS, MIM systems, and SMS clinical server.
Provide images to the reading room according to Division Standards.
Assist in ordering and stocking necessary supplies.
Follow quality assurance and HIPAA guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality.
Perform required quality assurance and documentation tasks.
Refill radio pharmacy delivery cases as needed and ensure safe room passage.
Follow protocol guidelines, including timing for administering PET radiopharmaceuticals before imaging procedures.
Demonstrate competency in all relevant areas, including SNMMI Quality Standards, CPR, Infection Control, and Imaging with Anesthesia.
Process all PET CT Imaging, including Axial Fusion processing and Myeloma Kidney Standard Cut and Coronal Cut.
Perform quality control on PET cameras and dose calibrators.
