Job Description

Job Title : Clinical Nurse - Operating Room

Job Specialty : OR / General Cardiac Unit

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 7 am to 5 pm, 4 days a week (includes some weekends)

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week

Experience : Minimum 2 years RN experience, 2 years of medical operating room experience

License : RN License

Certifications : BLS

Must-Have : EPIC experience highly preferred

Job Description :

The Clinical Nurse will provide safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients.
Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
Assess and evaluate patient care needs and apply critical thinking skills in patient care management.
Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care while delegating to others as appropriate.
Educate patients and caregivers about their care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrate effective allocation of material resources.

Patient Experience :

Use evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care.

Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions.

Support staff in using evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care.

Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding on assigned patients addressing the 4 Ps.

Quality and Safety :

Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.

Implement process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based ensure and procedures.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.

Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.

Implement principles of high reliability to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to provide a safe environment for patients.

Escalate potential safety hazards following institutional chain of command protocol.

Utilize institutional information technology to document nursing practice and support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations :

Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.

Coordinate with the Clinical Coordinator / Clinical Nurse Manager / Assistant Nurse Manager / Nursing Shift Manager to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care.

Facilitate patient throughput on a shift basis.

Contribute to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team.

Advance clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert.

Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation for self and others.
