Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Position Summary
Summary:
The Lead Respiratory Therapists will perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and respiration therapy treatments designed to treat patients with deficiencies and dysfunctions of the cardiopulmonary system. Their responsibilities include assessing, evaluating, diagnosing, and caring for patients with breathing disorders and are responsible for operating and maintaining ventilators/BiPAP. The Lead Respiratory Therapist, working as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborates, and coordinates patient care with members of other disciplines, including Physician’s and Nursing staff. He/she will monitor productivity and assure that all therapists are complying with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The lead therapist will also be responsible for assuring compliance with blood gas machines and resolving any clinical issues as they occur. They will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining the Respiratory Therapists schedule, and beeper assignments.

Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Graduate of AMA accredited Therapist program with a minimum 2 year AAS degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent.
Experience And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- 2 year of clinical experience is preferred
- Computer Proficiency
- Must possess critical thinking skills and be capable of assuming complete authority and responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager and or Assistant Director and or Director
License/Certifications
- NY State Respiratory Therapist License
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (from National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- BLS Certified from the American Heart Association, ACLS preferred
