We are currently seeking a Tumor Registrar to ensure complete and accurate data is collected and maintained for all patients diagnosed with and/or treated for cancer within the institution. Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, NY State Department of Health Cancer Registry, and Hospital Cancer Committee. This position requires a background in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, data analysis and collection and reporting.
We require:
- High School diploma or equivalent with strong biological science background
- Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential is required
- LPN, RN, RHIT, or RHIA preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the registry field and familiarity with ACoS/CoC requirements for hospital based cancer programs and New York State Dept. of Health Cancer Registry guidelines are preferred.
- Computer proficiency and competency in multiple registry software programs including METRIQ
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and all Cancer Registry related manuals including but not limited to ICD-O coding, AJCC Cancer Staging, and SEER..
