Overview of Job
The Hygiene Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support and assistance to Doctors, Hygienists, and Dental Assistants in the clinical areas of the office. Help minimize unnecessary wait times in the hygiene bay while aiding in providing quality care to the patient.
Schedule: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8a-5p
*MUST HAVE A DENTAL ASSISTANT LICENSE*
Primary Responsibilities and Tasks
- Successful completion of a dental assistant licensing program
- Possess active state x-ray certification desired.
- Comprehensive understanding of dental instruments.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong knowledge of computer programs such as MS Office.
Key Competencies and Characteristics
- Prepares treatment room for patients and prepares patients for dental treatment.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area.
- Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Fabricates restorations; cleans and polishes removable appliances.
- Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification.
- Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintains a safe clean working environment and ensures operation of dental equipment.
- Maintains dental supplies inventory.

Requirements:Education and Training
- On the job training and additional certification may be required based on state requirements.
- High school graduate or GED Equivalent.
