What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Mount Vernon Eye Care?
We are currently searching for an experienced Ophthalmic or Optometric Technician*.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides pretesting including refraction before the doctor’s examination
- Provides advanced diagnostic testing for certain conditions/diseases
- Manages patient flow throughout the day in an efficient manner
- Provides a calming demeanor throughout the exam process to help comfort patients
- Interprets and documents a quality patient case history
- Prepares medical equipment before opening and closing down at the end of day
- Prepares, cleans and discards equipment before and after medical procedures
- Educates the patient on insertion and removal of the contact lens
- Assist with fitting as well as insertion/removal training of CL.
Qualifications:
- Optometric or Ophthalmological experience required.
- Experience refracting
- Experience using many different diagnostic tools i.e. OCT, VF, Pachymeter, Topographer, etc…
- Ability to multi-task and a strong sense of urgency
- Friendly and detail-oriented
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
