Preschool Lead Teacher (Pre-K) – Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church Preschool
Location: 4 miles south of Old Town Alexandria
Part-Time: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church Preschool (MVPCP) is seeking a warm, energetic, and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our vibrant early learning community! We are a play-based, faith-centered preschool that values creativity, collaboration, and a nurturing environment for both children and staff.
About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate 5-day Lead Teacher for one of our Pre-K classes. This role is perfect for an educator who loves working with young children, embraces hands-on learning, and fosters a joyful and inclusive classroom environment.

Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans using our STREAMin3 curriculum that support the developmental needs of 4- to 5-year-olds.
- Foster a warm, positive, and encouraging atmosphere where children feel safe and excited to learn.
- Collaborate with assistant teachers, staff, and parents to support each child's growth and development.
- Communicate effectively with families through in-person interactions and our school app, keeping them informed and promoting positive relationships.
- Maintain a structured yet flexible classroom routine that supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Complete professional development requirements
- Conduct light cleaning duties and sanitizing toys and table tops
- Follow all staff and program guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience working with and/or caring for young children
- College education, Associates or 4 year degree
- Knowledge of children's developmental stages
- Having a positive attitude and being a lifelong learner
- Patience and empathy in working with young children
- Creativity and the ability to engage children in learning activities
