General Statement of Duties :
The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach is responsible for developing and strengthening statewide partnerships coordinating liaisons with community "champions" to provide comprehensive support for the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC- an exciting partnership between the Adult and Community Learning Services (ACLS) unit of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC). The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach possesses an ability to maintain effective relationships remotely with community-based organizations, ensuring strong outcomes for students enrolled in the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC. The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach will lead cross-functional project teams in a remote environment to ensure the delivery of effective resources and support services to students of MassLINKS disproportionately impacted by barriers to education and earning a family sustaining wage. The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach ensures that feedback from community engagement channels leads to direct action in support of student success and safety as part of an ongoing dialogue with our MassLINKS community members. The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach leads the alignment of available resources and services to MassLINKS staff members and students, including but not limited to : housing and / or food insecurities, job seeker and career planning resources, income-based services through the Department of Transitional Assistance (SNAP, WIC, TANF, etc.), support services through the Massachusetts Commission of the Blind and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, as well as regionally specific support services offered through community-based organizations across the Commonwealth. The MassLINKS Coordinator of Community Outreach serves as a vital link between our organization and the communities it serves, playing a crucial role in building strong relationships, promoting the organization's mission, and facilitating effective communication.
Responsibilities :
- Serves as the liaison between The Massachusetts Department of Child and Families and the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC.
- Supports access to fresh and healthy food resources across the Commonwealth for students of the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC such as farmers markets, food banks, etc.
- Develops partnerships with healthcare systems to provide information and resources to staff and students at the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC to increase access to healthcare and understanding of patients rights for MassLINKS students.
- Provides regular updates to MassLINKS leadership regarding community partnerships & resources supporting student safety and success at the MassLINKS Adult Education Online Academy at MWCC.
- Develop and lead regular student facing workshops to highlight resources and opportunities available to students across the Commonwealth including those unique to specific regions.
- Develop and lead professional learning for MassLINKS staff members related to roles, responsibilities and best practices in relation to community resources and opportunities.
- Contribute to internal student website with events, opportunities, career fairs, etc.
- Serve as the liaison to the ACLS statewide Career Center Outstationed working group ensuring strong connection to the Public Adult Education system and direct networking to available resources within the specific regions of the Commonwealth.
- Knowledge of and ability to connect students to utilities assistance available through various organizations and grants across the Commonwealth.
- Develop and maintain a current database of appropriate and available student resources with contact information and supporting materials.
- Maintain appropriate data related to student wellbeing and interaction with support services
- Collaborate with MassLINKS students to conduct non-academic assessments of barriers to academic success and / or successful participation and engagement within the MassLINKS community and identify appropriate resources to mitigate those barriers.
- Support the development transportation resource plans for MassLINKS students.
- Supports and manages student committees and activities to ensure the engagement of MassLINKS students in co-curricular programming including workshops and community connecting activities.
- Serves as the liaison to the Massachusetts Public Library systems to develop and maintain opportunities for student engagement, activities, and access to community services and support.
- Supports ACLS initiatives available to students, including but not limited to student ambassadorships, internships, etc.
- Provides active referrals to partner agencies and community-based organization and conducts follow up regarding all referrals.
- Keeps detailed notes of student meetings and documents student incidents ensuring compliance with all internal and external policy while supporting successful outcomes for students.
- Work cooperatively with community partners to provide MassLINKS students with information related to childcare resources, vouchers, etc.
- Collaborates with MassLINKS Leadership and state partners to identify and coordinate support services for newly arrived residents of Massachusetts interested in or enrolled in MassLINKS courses.
