Job Summary
The VP Operational Security collaborates with Senior Leadership to determine the operational security strategy for the organization. This position leads the Security Team in execution of strategy and manages the operational security functions and processes for the credit union. Ensures functions are effectively administered in accordance with requisite laws, regulations, risk tolerances, controls, policies and procedures. Works with management to diagnose issues and adjust protocols and controls as needed. Ensures a professional image is consistently maintained, enhanced quality service is adhered to, and all Branch needs are addressed while supporting the image and branding of the credit union.

Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Sets the strategic vision and for the Operational Security Team.
- Works closely with Senior Leadership to establish broad plans that contribute to the development and implementation of policies that affect several functional areas of the organization.
- Oversees all security requirements are met in accordance with internal and external regulatory guidelines.
Team Management and Development
- Leads and manages the operational security teams along with assigned personnel.
- Fosters personal growth and skill enhancement for team members through coaching and training.
- Delegates duties, tasks, and projects effectively, ensuring adherence to quality and budget constraints.
- Facilitates resolution and analysis of issues to ensure quality service.
Operational Excellence and Safety
- Coordinates operational/physical security initiatives with key credit union areas, such as Facilities, Human Resources and Risk Management.
- Maintains real-time knowledge of current security issues, trends, technology, and keeps Senior Leadership informed of threats and risks that could impact the credit union and its members.
- Enhances quality service while ensuring safety and security for the credit union and staff.
- Travels to branches as necessary.
Resource Management and Compliance
- Administers various security programs (Operational Security, Robbery, Safety and Security, Security Incident Management, Executive Protection, and Security Ambassador) ensuring they are current and compliant with MACU’s Policy Manual.
- Advises Senior Leaders on matters related to security.
- Oversees the security contracted services procurement process and ensures all contracts meet MACU guidelines and standards.
- Develops and manages capital and operating budgets.
- Administers the security camera, alarm, and access systems and processes.
- Develops and implements operational/physical security plans, protocols, and programs, making changes as needed.
- Supports the credit union’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs.
- Supports the maintenance of physical security controls of MACU properties.
- Plans for future development of Operational Security functions and skill sets.
- Some overnight travel is expected.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience
- Ten years of leadership experience required
- Eight years of law enforcement, physical/operational security, or similar experience required
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Problem solving skills.
- Leverages knowledge of trends in profession and/or specialized areas to influence strategy.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, law/security, or related field. OR 4 years additional professional experience. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education and work experience will be verified. Master's degree preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
- Security certification(s) preferred: Maintain a Utah concealed carry permit and/or maintain authorization firearm carry through H.R. 218, the Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act.
Managerial Responsibility
- Has leadership/managerial responsibilities that are direct or through work leaders or assistants, typically with a subordinate group of approximately 30 employees.
- Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to meet these needs.
- Supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of assigned staff.
- Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and applies company policy.
- Helps orchestrate talent development and movement across the business unit or functions.
