Skier Services Associate
General Purpose:
The Skier Services Associate seeks to provide excellent guest service in the selling of basic ticket products and rental fittings. They are responsible for answering questions and activating pre-purchased lift tickets. They are also responsible for fitting skis, boots, poles, snowboards and snowboard boots for guests efficiently and courteously, following proper rental procedures that meet industry standards. This position will rotate through all areas of their role throughout the day making it a fun, fast paced, constantly changing shift! This is a seasonal position from mid November to early April. Dates are subject to change based on the availability of the applicant and needs of the business. This is a non skiing position, but ski breaks are possible. This role comes with a free season pass for you and your dependents. We are looking for flexible candidates who can work at least 2 shifts per week with potential of working up to 5 shifts per week. The ideal candidate is also available to work full-time during our PEAK season dates(listed in the application). This position will remain open until filled. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist guests with the activation of pre-purchased lift tickets and sell limited and basic lift ticket products.
- Rent ski and snowboard equipment based on industry standards, fitting boots, selecting ski/snowboard and pole length, and adjusting bindings according to specifications.
- Greet guests and groups, providing courteous, helpful, and respectful service.
- Ensure guests complete liability forms and provide accurate information about Purgatory Resort operations and services.
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Balance the cash drawer accurately at the end of each shift, documenting adjustments, refunds, and discounts.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Stay informed on daily/weekly operations, following business policies and procedures.
- Maintain excellent guest service skills and a positive attitude, ensuring guests' experiences exceed expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent guest service skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic technical knowledge of skis, snowboards, boots, and bindings
- Basic mathematical and computer skills
- Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle high pressure situations during peak times
- Ability to work effectively with a team and independently
- Ability to solve problems, adapt, and use initiative
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED is strongly preferred. Must have reliable phone or internet connection for virtual interviews. Must possess an open mind and willingness to adapt. Previous Ski Resort experience is preferred but not required. Previous experience in sales, customer service, or handling customer requests and complaints is preferred, as well as experience working as a cashier using a POS system.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
95% of the day is spent indoors, 5% is spent walking between workstations outside in changing winter weather conditions. 60% of the day is spent sitting, 40% is spent standing. Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Constantly engaged in normal conversation. Frequently reaching, handling, near acuity, depth perception, color and field of vision.
Salary : $15 - $17
