What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Mountain Cement?
The Controller will manage, direct and coordinate the accounting close and financial reporting. The position requires a expert understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position reports to the VP of Finance.
DUTIES
- Manage all aspects of month-end close for accuracy
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Participate in the monthly earning re-projections
- Participate in the annual budget process
- Maintain the Property Asset records
- Process Insurance payments
- Process Property tax payments
- Maintain the Capital Expenditure database
- Review bank reconciliations
- Review payrolls for hourly and salary employees
- Prepare Net Proceeds of Mines report
- Prepare and manage audit PBC requests
- Maintain General Ledger
- Prepare various journal vouchers in preparation of monthly financial statements
- Maintain internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Participate in various audits conducted by corporate, local tax agencies
- Provide support in the preparation various outside governmental reports
- Prepare and provide financial analysis as required by local management
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- BS in Accounting / Finance
- 5 years relevant experience
- SOX
- Strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter mindset
MANAGEMENT SKILLS
- Proven track record of leading a team
- Lead the accounting team as they support daily company operations, complete monthly financial reporting, and successfully pass annual financial audits
