Mountain Cement Company, a subsidiary of Eagle Materials is seeking a Process Engineer
General Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and increase efficiency. This position will be involved in raw mix design, plant system optimization, designing/ & modifying equipment, installing control systems, and upgrading processes; all with health, safety, and environmental impacts being of significant concern. This position will also be project orientated, working on a number of projects at various stages of completion while working directly with both engineering companies and plant personnel. The ultimate goal of this position is to gain the necessary experience to qualify as a potential Production Manager candidate.
Principle, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and improve plant processes to increase reliability, improve production rates, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs
- Trouble shooting plant process issues
- Develop innovative solutions to problems
- Prepare samples for analysis
- Collect, record, and transcribe data
- Show results in reports
- Develop and implement systems that optimize plant systems
- Provide suggestions during incident investigations
- Advise on corrective actions
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within the budget range
- Work closely with staff to select the most appropriate process improvement techniques
- Work with a multi-functional team to achieve goals
- Analyze process problems to make continuous and permanent improvements
- Ensure that all aspects of operation or process meet specified regulations
- Conduct testing on systems for efficiency and accuracy in order to recommend short-term and long-term improvements
- Provide reports on testing effectiveness and completion
- Assist with training of new control room operators
- Assist in the continual improvement training of supervisors
- Fill in as a supervisor and provide production department on-call coverage as required
- Preform plant system audits
- Oversee installation of new equipment and provide training on equipment operation
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience working in a cement plant operation or closely related industry preferred
- Chemical Engineering or STEM based bachelor's degree preferred
- Must be highly skilled with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong background in workplace safety with a history of industrial safety training
- Understanding of MSHA regulations
- Must be organized and detail-oriented
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to teach others as well as learn from others
