Residential Addictions Counselor
PURPOSE: Provide accessible, ongoing addiction treatment for individuals enrolled in residential treatment.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with other staff and the Residential Addictions Clinical Director in planning, implementing and coordinating residential social detoxification and treatment services.
2. Maintain medical records, receive referrals, and provide information, and crisis /supportive counseling.
3. Participate/facilitate/supervise all residential functions including; meals, group, house meetings, big book sessions, journal sessions, education lectures, individual crisis intervention, and other activities deemed appropriate and necessary by the Residential Addictions Clinical Director.
4. Provide IOP services to clients.
5. Transport clients to self-help or other support groups in the region, and provide for transportation to the hospital for residents needing medical care.
6. Attend conferences and staff meetings as required.
7. Maintain a minimum of 20 hours of approved substance abuse disorder education annually.
8. Be knowledgeable about the Residential Addictions Treatment Operations Manual, keeping abreast of all updates, and providing for the completion of the minimum shift performance expectations.
9. To complete with proficiency all required documentation and do so on a timely basis.
10. Complete all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field. Must have valid Kentucky motor vehicle operator’s license.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to evaluate the needs of clients, ability to relate with a wide variety of professional employees and clientele. Knowledge of overall objectives and treatment concepts. Knowledge of rules, regulations and laws pertaining to the care and treatment of the chemically dependent. Ability to work autonomously, and to appropriately deal with crisis. Ability to keep records and reports.
