What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim Exceptional Children's Teacher position at Mountain Discovery Charter School?
Mountain Discovery Charter School is looking for an Exceptional Children’s Inclusion teacher to provide in-class/pull-out support for K-2 students in both reading and math. This position is interim for the remainder of the 2024 - 2025 school year and can be either full-time or part-time.
General Description
The Exceptional Children’s Inclusion Teacher shall report directly to the EC Coordinator and under direction shall assume responsibility for planning, developing and implementing specialized educational support services for students in the General Education Classroom. The Inclusion Teacher will support students by working with the General Education Teacher to develop appropriate instruction, interventions, and accommodations. These supports and services are designed to enhance teachers’ abilities to provide instruction to students. This teacher shall also serve as a liaison between teaching staff, EC Coordinator, and School Administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and maintain a valid North Carolina teaching license in or related to the area of assigned responsibility.
- Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children, teachers, staff, and other agencies.
- Possess specialized skills, experience, and training in the areas of instructional methodologies, curriculum design/modification, demonstration teaching and staff development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with state model curriculum frameworks, curriculum guides and other exemplary instructionally-related resources.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong background in reading and math instruction, intervention, and diagnosis.
- Familiarity with ECATS.
- Flexibility to handle the changing needs of the EC Department.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines at the same time.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct IEP team meetings as needed.
- Create differentiated lessons based on students’ individual needs.
- Collaborate with Regular Education Teachers on current lessons, pacing, programs, and services to students.
- Assist in conducting student needs assessments.
- Promote existing services and provide input on new/different services that will respond to the changing demands within the school.
- Effectively communicate with staff, parents and agencies.
- Attend all staff meetings and actively participates as a member of the educational team.
- Perform other related duties.
