Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom/virtual/clinical environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the RN program; associate’s degree in nursing with demonstrated competency in the teaching field to teach in the LPN program..
- Must hold a current license or a multi-state licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse.
- Have had two years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse.
- Maintained documentation of professional competence through activities such as nursing practice, education programs, conferences. etc.
- For supervising the clinical practice of students, faculty must meet the licensure requirements of the specialty in which that practice occurs.
