What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interpreter/Translator position at Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic?
Job Summary This position provides interpretation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and their families. This position acts as a neutral party to ensure accurate communication between healthcare providers and patients and families.
Essential Functions
- Acts as a facilitator of information for all clinical services including medical terminology and support services, policies and procedures to Spanish speaking patients.
- Interprets patient and/or family questions or concerns to appropriate healthcare staff to optimize the patient care experience.
- Documents accurately, completely and clearly all interpretation services.
- Serves as a cultural mediator, as necessary and when appropriate, to enhance communication between patients/family, as it relates to medical care.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology
- Strong organizational and time management skills
