What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Certified Belt Examiner - OWL SHIFT position at Mountain Laurel/Mingo Logan?
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
- Safely perform multiple tasks involving conveyor belt systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- This position will be on the Owl (Midnight) Shift.
- Actively participate and support the company's Behavior Based Safety Process.
- Assure compliance with all Federal, State and Company laws, guidelines, directives, and plans.
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist in the making of belt splices and unscheduled maintenance
- Responsible for the installation/removal of conveyor systems requiring the use of equipment such as scoops and locomotives
- Deliver conveyor system components as needed
- Set timbers, build cribs and/or other means of additional support in work areas (as needed)
- Rock dust work areas frequently and as needed
- Replace damaged rollers, structure, etc. as needed
- Fabricating of discharge chutes and other belt components by the use of cutting torches and welders (as needed)
- Communicate with Belt Coordinator and Mine Management in job duties and work area conditions
- Perform firebossing examinations in work area as needed, and/or required by regulations
- Other duties will/may be assigned by Management as needed
PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Possess current WV Underground Belt Examiner OR Foreman Certification. (Required)
- Possess current WV Underground Coal Miner Certification. (Required)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of underground conveyor belt experience.
- Excellent safety and attendance record.
- Display excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
- WV Underground Mine Foreman certification is a plus.
