Your Role
The Compliance Specialist will work closely with the Compliance and Audit Manager to ensure adherence with policies, procedures, and banking laws and regulations including, but not limited to, deposit and lending regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, privacy laws, and other compliance areas. The primary focus of this position is assisting in the administration and implementation of the Bank’s Compliance Program.
Essential Responsibilities

- Ensure that the Bank conforms to applicable laws and regulations, reporting requirements, compliance directives and policies related to BSA/AML, OFAC, Reg DD, Reg CC, Reg E, CRA, HMDA, ECOA, RESPA, TILA, Fair Credit Reporting, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and any other loan, deposit or general banking state and/or federal regulatory requirements.
- Perform daily review, monitoring, and analysis of various reports, logs, and transaction data to identify trends, unusual activity, and large currency activity; determines if transactions are suspicious in nature, such as kiting, significant changes in balances, cash structuring in deposits, loan payments, certificate of deposit purchases, wire or ACH transfers, monetary instrument sales, new account openings, etc.
- Assist with completing and filing applicable BSA reports (e.g., CTR, SAR, OFAC, 314a) to federal government agencies within time limitations; and maintaining proper recordkeeping as required by law
- Complete BSA certifications, AML software surveillance validations, and risk assessments; review certifications submitted by other business units, which may be inclusive of the overall Bank compliance program.
- Identify, through monitoring and internal reviews, procedural and policy related weaknesses and establish guidelines for the development of systems to resolve deficiencies.
- Initiate investigative procedures in the event of a violation of a compliance procedure, policy, rule or regulation.
- Conduct Branch Onsite visits to assess compliance and operational risk.
- Gather, evaluate, and present data to assist in conducting staff, management, and committee meetings and presentations.
- Prepare written reports, including findings, analyses, conclusions, and action plans.
- Assist in oversight of third-party Vendor Management relationships, serving as a point of contact for third-party service requests. This involves overseeing the intake, analysis, and evaluation of third-party services, along with assessing the potential risks and impacts of using the provider.
- Perform compliance monitoring and testing reviews for HMDA and CRA activities.
- Aid in the review and approval of Bank marketing materials, website/social media, and product and service materials for regulatory compliance.
- Work with department managers to revise as needed Bank forms and disclosures for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor and respond to customer complaints or issues with the ability to help resolve any issues professionally and timely; and identify any potential regulatory issues or process improvements.
- Develop annual compliance training schedule for Bank employees; determine compliance training based on job function and administer training plan of Bank staff, as appropriate.
- Prepare High-Risk reports for the Audit Committee and/or Board of Directors.
- Assist with new product and service offerings including researching and answering questions.
- Review policies and procedures, and provide recommendations.
- Assist with the compliance portion of all regulatory examinations and external compliance audits.
- Maintain a proficient knowledge of all department and Bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
- Proficient in computer applications, reporting, and file/data systems.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree
- 1-2 years banking experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years’ banking experience, ideally with compliance or BSA.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to remain in a stationary position and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a multi-line telephone, copy machine, scanner, fax, and computer printer. Work Environment

- This is a full-time, in-person position: Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week.
- Work requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to an agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible and/or rotating schedule and/or extended hours, as needed.

- Occasional (5%-10%) local, non-overnight travel
