JOB SUMMARY:
The Network and Telecom Engineer II is responsible for administering and maintaining all IT enterprise network and telecom platforms and services, on-prem and hosted. Working closely with the Network and Telcom Engineer III; assists in researching, designing, and implementing new technologies, services, and solutions supporting Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC) needs. The Network and Telcom Engineer II will manage independently at least 2 major platforms or services within the scope of responsibility of the Network and Telecom group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Intermediate knowledge in technical strategies of routers, modems, hubs/switches networking, wireless systems, and telecommunications systems.
- Responsibilities for procurement, acquisition, inventory, and disposition of network and telecommunications hardware and software and administers and controls those information systems.
- Works with the Network Engineer III in execution of strategic plans developed by IT Leadership to support business plans or create new strategic options.
- Some experience and current networking knowledge in support of new technologies and their deployment, including MPLS, BGP, SD-WAN, SD-LAN, VPN, and SIP.
- Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, intranet, and telecommunication systems. • Install and maintain network and telecommunications hardware and software.
- Analyze and isolate issues related to network, firewall, and telecommunication issues.
- Monitor networks and telecommunication systems to ensure security and availability to specific users.
- Assists in the evaluate and modification of system performance and make recommendations for any system or architectural improvements.
- Evaluate and identify business and user needs.
- Determine network and telecommunication system requirements.
- Maintain integrity of the network, telecommunications, and security of those systems.
- Architect, engineer, install, and deploy networks and various networking components.
- Perform network address assignment, assign routing protocols, and routing table configuration.
- Assists with developing departmental policies, procedures, and training.
- Keeps current with the latest technology; regularly attends technical training in order to maintain technical expertise.
- Acts as mid-tier escalation point for networking and telecommunication support when needed.
- Assists in vendor management for networking and telecommunications.
- This position requires consistent, in-person attendance. However, based on the employee’s performance and the specific task the employee is accomplishing, limited remote work may be permissible.
- Travel to multiple locations during shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 2 years of IT experience; or high school diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years of IT experience
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of telecommunications engineering experience
- Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) or equivalent experience
- Cisco, Firewall, Telecommunications, network monitoring systems, and Aruba experience
- SDWAN, SaaS, Datacenter, and enterprise networking level experience
